Hi, I'm Wayne
I'm a hockey dad from Sheffield. My daughter Rebecca plays for Sheffield U10s and my son Matthew plays for Sutton U16s — so I spend most of my weekends freezing in rinks, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I built EIHStats because after every game I'd find myself digging through the Game Day system trying to check stats, see where the kids' teams sat in the table, or compare players. The data was all there, but it was scattered across dozens of pages and really painful to find anything useful. I figured if I was doing it, other parents and coaches probably were too. So I decided to build something better.
By day I'm a software developer, so I started pulling the data together, adding league tables, player rankings, team breakdowns, head-to-head comparisons — all the things I wished existed. It snowballed from there. Every weekend I'd think of something else to add, and before long it had become a proper platform.
Today EIHStats tracks 5,384 players across 209 teams, covering 1,799 games and 14,297 goals from every rink in England — from U10s all the way up to the senior NIHL leagues. The site updates multiple times a week during the season so you're always looking at the latest numbers.
What started as a side project for our family has turned into something the wider community actually relies on. Parents checking their kids' stats on the drive home, coaches scouting the opposition before a big game, players tracking their own progress through the season. Knowing people get genuine use out of it means a lot.
